You will always receive a message when a team challenges you, but remember that he may also have challenged many other teams. As soon as one of those challenges is accepted, they are removed from everyone else so that they cannot have more than one game. I guess the answer is be quicker next time!
If you have this problem, then please send an email to
orders@battrick.org.uk giving your receipt details, your team ID number, your user name, and your email address used for Paypal. Your membership will then be activated manually.
Yes. All members can see their match commentary from a link on the scorecard after the game has finished.
There is no rain in Battrick - we can control even the weather!! So you will never have to fear the Duckworth/Lewis here!!
Everyone has a groundsman with the same ability at the moment, and his ability has no effect on how quickly he can adapt the pitch to your requirements. It is planned as a future development to allow you to change groundsmen, and from that point their ability will be crucial in determining whether he can match your requirements in the required timeframe, if at all!
If you locate a bug please post on the Bug Reports sledging board (found under the "Other" category, checking that there isn't already a thread on the subject and that the issue isn't included in the bugs sticky.
The only exception to this is if it is an issue which is potentially exploitable if made public; in this case sending a message to the Admin Team via Help >
Contact Us.
The Devs will then try to address the bug as soon as they can, taking into account the level of urgency.
Errors in commentary lines should be reported on the Commentary sledging board, in the appropriate thread.
There will be no limit on the amount of foreign players that you are allowed in your side, although we may introduce financial penalties for having them in the future. If we do this, we will give sufficient warning to allow users to change their squads accordingly.
The match ratings shown in the reporter's summary are only his opinion, and are a general rating giving an indication of the respective strengths of each team. These ratings have NO effect on the match.
No, there are no injuries in Battrick! However, players do have their own personal fitness levels, and if this gets low enough, he may as well be injured.
Multiview (Found under "Main") is our onsite match viewer, allowing you to keep track of up to six matches all from one window.
You can add games to MultiView by clicking on this icon

on the relevant match's page or next to it on a fixtures page.
Please note that if you log out of Battrick the games you have added to MultiView will be removed.
You will now receive the end of over updates for all the matches you have added on one page, with the ball-by-ball commentary just a click away, so you can keep yourself up-to-date with the progress of friends and rivals alike.
When you login to Battrick your web browser retrieves the current time from the BT Server along with the other page details. After that it's your computer trying to keep the clock running at the right speed and the problem is that this is a task which PCs are surprisingly poor at!
The easiest way to correct this is by periodically reloading the whole Battrick page, your browser again retrieving the correct BT Time from the server.
Navigating the site using the back button is something that can cause problems for your computer in keeping the time up to date. It is recommended that you navigate by following links wherever possible.
We receive a large number of ideas from our userbase which we are very grateful for, but this volume and the limited time of the Devs does mean we have a procedure for submitting suggestions, and that route is via the Dev Ideas sledging board (found under the "Other Boards" heading in the join menu).
This is done so that the idea immediately receives scrutiny and feedback from the users who read that board, giving us an idea of whether this is a worthwhile feature to introduce.
However, before posting please check the sticky thread on the Dev Ideas board which documents passed suggested features and the perceived likelihood of them being introduced. If your idea is in this list then it has been discussed previously, so take this into account before posting your idea.
Well thanks for doing the right thing by reading this FAQ first of all! If you haven't already please read the
Rules also found under the Help menu. Also in the help menu is the
Beginners Guide which is an excellent resource.
Beyond that there are two main avenues for help:
- The Newbie Sledging Board -- The sledging boards (Community > Sledging) are Battrick's forum and this particular board is a place where new players' questions are answered by more experienced users. If you are lucky you may even be able to find yourself a kind user willing to act as a mentor for you here! To access this board go to "Community" and then "Sledging". In Sledging, under the "Join Sledging Board" header there is a pull down menu with "---Select---" in it, click that and choose "Others". A new screen loads and in the next "---Select---" menu choose "Newbie Questions". Then click "Join Newbie Questions Sledging Board".
- Tip Sites - There are many user-run sites offering tips and advice about Battrick and you can find a list of them under Community > Links.
Finally you'll also be receiving some starter e-mails at the address you gave to Battrick during your first week explaining about the day's events and other aspects of the game.
Thanks for joining and best of luck with your team!
To view what orders you gave a particular player for a certain match go to the scorecard for this game and hover the mouse over the player's name on the batting card or bowling card and a tooltip will appear showing their instructed approach for that discipline.
As you would expect, you can only view the orders of those on your own team.
No, we cannot cancel the bid. We advise that you contact the seller and explain the situation, asking if he's willing to help you. If the seller is willing then we can remove the 42 day contract which would prevent you from selling him again and list him for, say, 90% of the price you paid for him. The original seller then buys the player back, we remove the 42 day contract again and they re-list the player for £0. In that way you lose out on a bit of money for your mistake but not the whole amount and the seller makes more money from the sale than they would have done as we would have adjusted the original sale to reflect market value anyway. Hopefully they'll see sense in that and we can sort it out for you both.
Please note that we only offer this service for users who accidentally add an extra zero when bidding, not for users who make bids that they later wish they hadn't. In those cases if you win the bid then you will have to wait 42 days until you can sell the player, as per normal, and the original seller has no compulsion to buy them back.
No, we can not reset teams or give you a new team. If you really want to start again then you must stop logging into your current team until it becomes a bot after seven weeks. Only then can you apply for a new team.
We advise that all new users read the rules and FAQ thoroughly upon joining the game and before making any irreversible decisions involving their team. Most users realise after a couple of months playing Battrick that they could have done things better when they started. However that is part of the game, we must overcome any difficulties faced by our teams rather than giving up in the hope that you might get it perfect next time.
Members please note that the period of your membership continues whether you are logging into your account or not and is therefore not paused for seven weeks if you should decide to restart with a new team. However it can be transferred to a new team after that time, when you gain your new team write to the Admin team and ask for your membership to be transferred from your old account to your new one.
No, friendlies can not be cancelled.
Was the team he was leaving from a different country to yours? If the answer is yes, then it is quite possible that he had received training in his previous country before the transfer occurred. Players can only receive one training update per week so if a West Indies based team bought an Australian based player on a Saturday, he will only benefit from the training update he received in Australia. See
Section 19 of the Rules for more information.
Yes you can. The option to change your team name is only available during Week 1 of the new season and the link is found on your Pavilion page. It costs £50,000 as the sponsors, programme and ticket editors will need to adjust their new brochures.
The option to change region is located alongside the change team name option.
The option to change your user name is also only available during Week 1 of the new season, and you will find this option on your Preferences page. There is no cost to change your user name.
Please note both options appear after the Financial update in Week 1.
The reason for this is probably that you are in debt (you may have a negative bank balance, greater than £-150000).
When you are in debt the bank will take a long-term view of your managerial actions rather than short-term views. Whilst sacking a coach is seen as a long-term saving, the bank will see hiring a new coach in replacement as a bad investment and won't allow the appointment.
You will not be charged for this appointment although it does register on your Diary page.
If you have a logo ready to show us all, then first of all you need to upload your logo to a picture hosting site. For example:
ImageShack.Us or
Photobucket.
Once you have uploaded your picture to their website, you can then copy and paste the "direct link to image" address into your "Logo" field found under Preferences (Main Menu). You will need to type in your password to confirm the changes to your account details.
The direct link should look similar to:
http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/4391/logolyn9.jpg
No, we can not cancel the transfer. Neither will you go bankrupt by bidding on your own player as the money you spend on your player will simply go into your own bank balance anyway, thereby cancelling itself out. However, you will still lose the 5% agents fees.
On any team's pavilion page you will see a "Challenge Team" box in the bottom-right hand corner. If you need to find a team to play you can make a post on Sledging; use the relevant thread on your national board or the friendlies board.
To take advantage of some new features and enhancements at Battrick, you will need to clear out any old files from the site, and replace them with the new versions. Read our
conclusive and thrilling guide here!
New teams start with £75,000 in their finances and then get £50,000 per week for the first seven weeks. After that the newbie income is cut and you're on your own, balancing your budget with income from matches and player sales.
This gradual income is intended to ease the strain of finances from new teams over the first few weeks of existence, preventing you from blowing all of your money in one go whilst you learn the financial side of the game.
Top Order: 1-3
Middle Order: 4-7
Lower Order (tail): 8-11
It probably belongs to a member of the Battrick Hall of Fame.
A small select bunch of players have been awarded the honour of being inducted in the Hall of Fame by their own community. This means that they get their own dedicated commentary line, and a write up of their history in the game.
Why not go and read up on them, and see what other commentary lines there are to look out for, on the
Hall of Fame page - (usually accessed through the community section on the menu).
No, not at all. If you wish to leave Battrick then all you need to do is to stop logging in. If you do not log into your account for 7 weeks, your account will be closed automatically and your team reset ready for a new user to take over.
Thanks for playing!!
Yes, we're more than happy for people to share a computer to play Battrick. However we do have a few rules regarding such sharing, which are intended to ensure that you and all users enjoy the game equally.
If you are aware that you are sharing computers with other Battrick users then please use the in-game Contact Us form and let us know who they are. We will make a note of that for future reference, to help us recognise where there are legitimate multiple users on one computer connection.
If you are already playing Battrick and someone will be signing up from your computer then please use the in-game Contact Us form, (Help menu) BEFORE they sign up, to let us know their name and e-mail address, so that we can look out for their application. Unfortunately a small handful of users try to cheat by signing up for multiple teams, which breaks the rules of Battrick. If we know that someone will be signing up from your computer then we can make a note and look out for their application, knowing that it is a legitimate new user.
Please note that you are the sole manager of your team, no-one else is allowed to access it - not even close friends or family. If you are sharing a computer to log into Battrick then please keep your password secret so that others can not access your account. Battrick is not responsible for ensuring that a grumpy sibling does not know your password and is able to access your team and sell your players, keep your password secret!
We also do not allow managers to buy players from family or friends' teams or from teams who share the same computers or IP addresses. Transfers between these teams and your own will be in breach of the rules and severely punished. This rule is in place to ensure that the small minority cannot cheat, with thousands of managed teams in the game there are plenty of other teams for you to buy from and sell to.
You will find your team ranking on your Pavillion page. Your national ranking is based on a combination of your position in the FC, OD and BT20 leagues, with appropriate weighting attached to each competition.
When we calculate the international rankings, we use another weighting that will take account of the size of the country that you are playing in to level the playing field for OD and FC rankings - your BT20 ranking is obviously global already!
The ranking will be recalculated each Saturday morning BT time.
Contact us immediately using the Contact Us form under the Help menu. That way we can contact the buyer and thereby find out why such a large bid has been placed on your player. Quite often it is purely a user error in adding an extra '0' by accident, but occasionally the Admin team will need to step in to make the necessary changes so that neither the buyer or the seller get any in-game advantage.
One thing to note is not to use the money received for your player until the investigation by the Admin team is complete.
When you are in sledging there is a drop down menu at the top left that reads "New Messages".
Change this to "Set Signature" then click on Go.
You will then have a box in which you can create a signature of up to four lines in length.
Look under the Main -> Preferences menu, there is an option there to turn on or off player faces, as well as a few other optional enhancements.
Any player who has ever played a match for your club can be inducted into your club's Hall of Fame. This includes players who have retired and players who have been sold to other clubs. (Skills for players still active at other clubs will not be visible until they retire). A list of eligible players can be found under the Hall of Fame link in the More Details box on your club's Pavilion page.
You will initially have ten places available in your Hall of Fame. Once you have used those places, then you will gain another place 16 weeks after you use the last place. You then will continue to be given one new place 16 weeks after you have used the last one.
Please be aware that placing a player into your Hall of Fame does not force them to retire. If you want them to retire, then you will need to fire them through the link on their Player page.
Please note that it is not possible to remove a player once he is in your Hall of Fame, so please choose carefully.
The Hall of Fame is a members only feature.
On the last day of each season, all players in Battrick have a birthday. As part of their preparation for the new season, all youth academies will close briefly from when the Players' Birthday update occurs until the first Financial Update of the new season. If you did not promote a youth from your academy in Week 16, then you will need to wait until your academy re-opens after the Financial Update.
No, this is correct. There are no gate takings from playoff matches.
When a team turns bot:
- Fitness is reset to fresh at the next Daily Update
- Form is reset to worthless at the next Training Update
- Players are replaced at the next bot reset (Week 1 or Week 9)
No, we cannot.
When you are placing bids, please double-check that you are bidding with the correct team. If you spot your error at the time, then you can just place a bid with the correct team.
If you have been away from your computer, always check that you are managing the correct team, as there is a time-out function that will return you to your main team.
